The Gamaksan Suspension Bridge in Paju has become a popular destination, not just for its accessibility and nearby cafes but also for the excitement it offers to thrill-seekers. This 150-meter suspension bridge, often showcased on social media, leads to the mountain’s well-maintained trails, making it perfect for both casual visitors and avid hikers.
While the bridge is an attraction in itself, our primary goal was to hike up to Gamaksan’s peak. Visiting in the middle of spring was an ideal choice. The vibrant green trees and cool weather created the perfect hiking conditions—not too cold or hot. However, mountain weather can change quickly, so we recommend wearing proper gear to stay comfortable and prepared.

Meanwhile…
Gamaksan has much to offer along its trails. Hikers encounter sturdy paths, wildflowers, unique rock formations, and stairs that seem to stretch endlessly.
Despite the occasional challenge, the journey is rewarding.
Near the peak, the scenery becomes truly breathtaking, and the summit itself is a welcoming area with flat, wide spaces, seating, and sometimes, an ice cream vendor is even present.
Bringing your own snacks is still a good idea, as the hike requires plenty of energy.
When we reached the summit, we sat down to enjoy our packed snacks while taking in the stunning views. The serene atmosphere sparked a conversation about making hiking a regular hobby.
For us, Gamaksan was part of a broader fitness journey, with the goal of preparing to climb Mt. Hallasan again after an unsuccessful attempt in winter.
Descending the mountain proved faster but tougher on the knees. Careful footing and hiking poles were a great help, adding stability to the journey down. We finished before sunset.
