Yesterday, we had our car checked and the air-conditioning issue fixed.
Today, our plan was to give it a proper deep clean, from a thorough wash to tidying the entire interior. The forecast had suggested a cloudy day, with possible rain, so we thought it would be the perfect opportunity to take care of our beloved car, Going Merry. No sunny days wasted, or so we believed. However, the weather surprised us. It turned into a beautifully clear day with deep blue skies.
We could not simply change our schedule at the last minute, as we had no alternative plans in place. So, we decided to carry on with our original plan.
What tempted us further, however, was the remarkable clarity of Mount Hallasan, standing in near-perfect 4K visibility. The air was so crisp and clear that it felt impossible to focus on our task without first taking a few photographs. And so, we made a small detour to one of our favourite viewpoints of Mount Hallasan, where a field of canola flowers was in bloom.
A number of people had already gathered in the area, though fortunately, the space was wide enough to capture a clean and unobstructed shot of the mountain. However, with the crowd, flying a drone was not possible. We had hoped to take an aerial shot of the canola field, ideally with fewer people in view.
If the canola flowers remain in bloom over the coming days, we hope to return for that long-awaited aerial shot, ideally with the same flawless sky to complete the scene.
After taking our photographs, we continued with our original plan. We headed to our usual ocean-view spot, a place where we often park while working on the road. There, we emptied the car entirely and began cleaning, vacuuming every corner and putting everything back in order. With the sea stretching out before us, it became more than just a chore. It turned into another quiet, memorable, and rather enjoyable experience to write about.
The cleaning took nearly three hours, and by the time we finished, it was close to 2 in the afternoon. Feeling a little too tired to drive far for a proper meal, we settled for a nearby convenience store. We picked up a few lunch boxes, along with some snacks and drinks, and ate in the comfort of our car.
After lunch, we set up our small table, brought out our laptops, and carried on with our work.
As the hours passed, the weather slowly began to shift. The bright blue sky faded, replaced by a gathering layer of dark clouds. We can only hope the fine weather returns tomorrow and in the coming days, especially with cherry blossom season just beginning to unfold. It is a fleeting, almost magical time, and one we would not wish to miss.
